 How Do I Configure Settings for Students?

In the General Settings  - > Students tab, you  can select settings that determine  what students are and are not allowed to do within the LMS.

What Does Each of the Settings Do?

  • Lock first name field from being edited by students - If checked, students cannot edit their first name from their profile page.
  • Lock last name field from being edited by students - If checked, students cannot edit their last name from their profile
  • Lock email field from being edited by students - If checked, students cannot edit their email address from their profile page.
  • Allow students to assign their content, if available - If checked, students can self-assign content listed in the entire catalog or made available to them.
  • User can only self-assign content that is available for their groups (unchecked = all content) - If checked, students can only self-assign content made available to them via the user group(s) they are in.
  • Allow students to manually archive and un-archive their content - If checked, students can manually archive content (hiding it from their primary view) and can manually un-archive content (bringing it back to their primary view).
  • Allow students to print their own activity report - If checked, students can print their activity report from their profile page.
  • Allow students to configure their activity report settings - If checked, students can choose which options they would like to show in their activity report.
  • The Activity Report's Content Activity setting is -
    • Not Launched - Will only display content on the student's activity report that has not been launched
    • Launched - Will only display content on the student's activity report that has been launched
    • Both - Will display content on the student's activity report that is either not launched or launched
  • Allow students to print their own transcripts - If checked, students can print their own transcripts from their profile page.
  • Allow students to print certificates - If checked, students can print their own certificates from their profile page.
  • Allow students to view class rosters - If checked, students can see who else is on the roster for any classroom or webinar session.
  • Allow students to download class schedule - If checked, students can download a class schedule that lists all classes they are registered for from their profile page.
  • Allow students to deactivate themselves - If checked, students will be able to de-activate their account from the profile page. Re-activation of their account has to be performed by an admin.
