How Do I Add or Edit User Statuses?

Prior to the 10.13 release, there were three default user statuses in the LMS: Active, Idle (Login allowed) and Inactive (Login disallowed). Now, you can create custom user statuses to measure user churn, or anything else you'd like.

Important Notes:

  • The Active, Idle and Inactive statuses will be located in General Settings > General Administration > User Status.
  • If the Idle status in General Settings was set to a value greater than the Inactive status, the value for Inactive has automatically been set to one day greater than Idle status setting.

Edit and Add User Statuses:

  • From Admin Navigation, select General Settings
  • Go to the General Administration tab, and scroll down to the section titled User Status
  • The three previous statuses are now shown:
    • Active User Status 1: Active
    • Active User Status 2: Idle
    • Inactive User Status: Inactive

Editing Existing Statuses:

  • Name of the status - This is only used for reports and is not shown to the user
  • Status Color - This displays in the circle next to the students on the Users section of the LMS
  • Range of Days Since Last Login
    • The From value will always need to be equal to or greater than the previous status' To value.
    • If a From value is set to a number higher than the previous status' To value, then the previous status' To value will be set to one less than the From value set; this will continue to cascade up the status list until the To and From of the statuses are equal to or greater than each other.
  • Mark Users as Inactive - This only displays for the last status on the list.
    • When Going From Checked (enabled) to Unchecked (disabled):
      • Users who are already set inactive by the current setting will stay inactive
      • The inactive status will still stay in the grid, but will not be used by the system
      • Users matching the days configuration will remain in the last active user status in the list until an admin marks them as inactive or until Mark Users as Inactive is checked (given they meet the days criteria set for the Mark Users Inactive status)
    • When Going From Unchecked (disabled) to Checked (enabled):
      • Users will now be re-organized based on the days set for each active and the one inactive status
