How to Create Programs Within the LMS

The Programs feature allows you to create a collection of content that has Units assigned to them. The Program has a start and end date in which the student can earn Units within the Program.

How Do I Enable Programs?

  • Login as a Main Administrator or Sub Administrator with permissions to General Settings
  • From Admin Navigation select General Settings
  • Within General Settings select the General Administration tab
  • Scroll down until you see the option Activate Programs
  • Check the box to activate the programs feature
  • Click Save at the bottom

How Do I Assign Units to a Piece of Content?

  • From Admin Navigation select Content
  • Locate the piece of Content you want to add Units to
    • Double-click to open its properties
  • Select the Content Options tab
  • In the text-box next to Program Units enter the number of Units for this piece of content
  • Click Save at the bottom

How Do I Create a Program?

  • From Admin Navigation select Programs
  • Select Add Program at the top
    • This will open the Add Program wizard
  • Select Next to skip the first page

Content Items That Will We Included in the Program Page

On this page, you can expand the content categories in the list and check the box next to the piece(s) of content to be in the Program

Learning Tracks That Will Be Included in The Program Page

On this page, you can check the box next to the Learning Track(s) to be included as part of this program

Programs Options Page

  • Title - Type the name of the Program in the text box
  • Description - Give the Program a description so learners know what to expect
  • Date Range - Select a Start Date and End Date for the Program
  • Units Needed - Input the number of Units needed to complete the program out of the max allowed
    • The max allowed number of units is calculated by adding all units for content assigned to this Program

  • Badge - Select a badge (non-system) to be awarded when the program is completed

Note: Once a Program is assigned to a user group the Content within the Program and the Program itself become ‘locked'. Units will not be able to be adjusted for the individual pieces of content and the settings for the Program cannot be changed. However, you can add additional individual pieces of content to the Program (but not from Learning Tracks).

 

How Do I Assign a Program to a User Group?

  • From Admin Navigation select User Groups
  • Double-click the User Group you want to assign a Program to open its properties
  • Use the right-arrow to scroll over
  • Select the Assigned Programs tab
  • Check the box next to the Program(s) you would like to assign to this group
  • Click Save at the bottom

How Can Students View Programs Assigned to Them?

Cards on the Student Dashboard

  • From Admin Navigation select General Settings
  • Select the Student Dashboard tab
  • Top Row:
    • If the Programs card is set to show on the Top Row, the student will see:
      • The Program(s) that have a Start and End Date during the time the student is logged in
      • The number of Units earned out of the Required number of Units
      • The Program end date
    • Bottom Row:
      • If the Programs card is set to show on the Bottom Row the student will see:
        • The Program(s) that have a Start and End Date during the time the student is logged in
        • Upcoming Program(s) within the next 30 days
        • Completed Program(s) - Program(s) the learner has completed
        • Expired Program(s) - Program(s) that the learner did not meet the minimum requirement on
      • On both cards, if the student clicks on a Program, they will be taken to that Program
      • On both cards, if the student clicks View All, the student will be taken to the Assigned Programs View on the Content Page

Assigned Programs View on the Content Page

  • While on the Content Page the student can click the drop-down next to View
  • From within that drop-down, they can select Programs
    • This will take them to the Programs view which will allow them to see all Programs assigned to them
  • By selecting one of the Programs assigned, they will be able to see all the content within that Program
