General Settings — Login Tab
TraCorp LMS Quick Reference Guide (QRG)
Audience: Main Admin, Sub Admin
Overview
This QRG explains how Main Admins can use the Login tab to configure the user experience and requirements for the log in process. The settings chosen for self-registration, welcome text, account lockout and other options are the default for the LMS. All required LMS fields on this tab are pre-populated with default values.
Enabled Permissions Required to Complete the Following Steps
- General Settings > Log In (Sub Admin)
Note: Sub Admin without access to complete these steps should review Permissions with a Main Admin. User Group Admins do not have permission to access General Settings.
Steps to Update the Login Tab
- From Admin Navigation, click General Settings.
- Click the Login tab.
- Enter the Number of login attempts before lockout to define the number of failed attempts a user can have before their account is locked out. The default is 10 attempts. Note: Consider how login attempts and a lockout period are set for other systems in the organization.
- Enter the Lockout period in minutes to define the number of minutes a user is locked out before they can try logging in again. The default is 1 minute.
- Click the Allow users to register themselves check box to allow users to self-register. If checked, the LMS provides a Create Account button on the log in screen for users to create their own accounts. Note: If self-registration is enabled, it is highly recommended to use Registration Fields with autoassignment rules or Access Codes.
- Click the Force required user fields. If a user logs in without a value in a required field, force them to fill it in upon login check box to require a user to complete required registration fields on the profile page if they are not completed.
- Click the Track user logins (for reports) check box to track user login information for reporting purposes.
- Enter text in the Text for Log In Screen for the welcome text to display at the bottom of the log in window.
- Enter text in the Help Text for Log In screen (Novus III only) field for the help text to display when the Help button is clicked on the log in screen. Note: In the Help Text, direct users to internal resources for technical issues and for questions about use of and content in the LMS.
- Enter the Login box width (pixels) to define the number of pixels to set a custom login box width. The default is 500 pixels.
- Enter the Login box height (pixels) to define the number of pixels to set a custom login box height. The default is 375 pixels.
- Enter a URL in Custom login URL (for single sign-on) to specify the single sign-on (SSO) URL if using this feature. Note: An SSO integration with the LMS requires initiating a project with TraCorp.
- Enter a URL in On Log-out re-direct users to this URL to specify where users are redirected after logging out. If the field is left blank, users are sent to the standard log in page.
- Click Save Settings.
