Overview
This QRG explains how to customize the Student Dashboard layout.
Enabled Permissions Required to Complete the Following Steps
- General Settings: Student (Sub Admin)
Note: Sub Admin without access to complete these steps should review Permissions with a Main Admin. User Group Admins do not have permission to access General Settings.
Configure the Student Dashboard
1. From Admin Navigation, click General Settings.
2. Click the Student Dashboard tab.
3. Select the number of Cards to display on the top row of the dashboard in the Top Row drop-down menu, or select Carousel of Cards to rotate through all selected cards.
a. To change the number of cards in the Carousel of Cards, click Add Card to add a card to the bottom of the list, or click Remove Last Card to remove the card from the bottom of the list (below Card 23).
4. Select a card to display as the first card on the dashboard in the Card 1 drop-down menu. See Student Dashboard Card Descriptions in the next section to learn more about each card type and customization options.
5. Select the number of Cards to display on the bottom row of the dashboard in the Bottom Row drop-down menu, or select Carousel of Cards to rotate through all selected cards.
a. When using the Carousel of Cards option, a minimum of four cards is required. Click Add Card to add a card to the bottom of the list or click Remove Last Card as needed.
6. Click the User group Student Dashboard Templates check box if a user group Card template has been developed for the dashboard. If checked, options display to Add, Edit, or Delete a template, or to Copy from another template to create a new one. Settings for each user group follow the same structure used to set up a default student dashboard.
7. Click Save Settings.
Student Dashboard Card Descriptions
- Activity — Lists In Progress training and New Training that has been assigned.
- All Content — Displays a preset image that, when selected, takes the student to a page that shows All Content.
- Assigned Content — Lists all Assigned Content. Card includes a View All button that will take the student to the Assigned Content page. When selected, options for which content types to list and how to sort them appear.
- Badges — Lists Badges in the system, how many the student has earned, and has a View All button that takes the student to a page to view all badges in the LMS.
- Blank — Creates a blank space on the dashboard where a card would otherwise display.
- Calendar — Displays a monthly calendar that shows Classroom and Webinar Sessions the student is registered for.
- Certificates — Lists all Certificates earned.
- Certifications — Lists all Certifications assigned and the percent complete. When selected, the option to sort by Title or Date appears.
- Classrooms — Displays a preset image that, when selected, takes the student to a calendar page that shows the Classroom Sessions they are registered for.
- Favorites — Lists all Favorited Content.
- Hello — Displays Welcome Back, the student’s first name, and selected student information. When selected, options to Show Avatar, Show Profile, Show My Admin, Show Help, and a Help URL appear.
- Learning Tracks — Lists Learning Tracks assigned to the student. When selected, options to sort by Title, Display Order, or Due Date appear, and an option to Auto-dismiss Completed Learning Tracks is available.
- Menu — Displays a menu configured in the Menus tab in General Settings. When selected, the option to Select a Menu and enter a Description appears.
- News — Lists current news items.
- Programs — Lists assigned Programs.
- Reports — Displays a reporting window to allow students to select a report type and date range. When selected, an option to display Student Activity Report or Student Transcript by default appears.
- Session Content — Displays Classroom Sessions and Webinars. This card includes a View Calendar button that will take the student to the Calendar page. When selected, an option to display Assigned Content Only appears.
- Tags — Lists Content Tags or Learning Track Tags. There is a View All button that will take the student to a page to view all tags in the LMS.
- Text — Displays custom text. When selected, options for entering Title, Text, and card Background Color appear.
- Transcript — Displays a preset image that, when selected, downloads the student’s transcript.
- Webinars — Displays a preset image that, when selected, directs students to a calendar page that shows Webinars they are registered for.
- Welcome — Displays a card with a preset welcome message for the student. It shows which piece of content they last accessed and includes an Assigned Content button that takes them to the Assigned Content page. When selected, options to display Content or Learning Track, along with When previous content is available, button should show options for how to display previous content if available.
