 How Do I Create a Certification?

Certifications are used to have students take recurring training. If there is training that students need to take at a specific interval, it can be assigned to a certification to ensure the student has to retake the training.

How Do I Create a Certification?

  • From the Admin Navigation menu, select
  • Click Add Certification.
    • This will open the Add Certification

What Settings are Included in the Add Certification Window?

Certification Information Tab

  • Name - The name of the certification that will be displayed to students.
  • Assigned Period:
    • Completion Type - Select from the drop-down when the certification is first due.
      • From Assigned Date - This will show an additional option, Completion Days, that will allow you to enter the number of days from first assignment of the certification that it will be due.
      • Due On Specific Date - This will show two additional options, Completion Date and Date Type. For Completion Date, use the date-picker to select the date by which the student should complete this certification. For Date Type, select One-Time if students need only complete the certification once (for students already in the system) or Annual if you want this certification to be available to students added after the initial completion date.
      • Warning Period - A comma-separated list of numbers can be entered to set the timing of notifications sent to students prior to the due date of the certification. For example, if 3,2,1 is entered, students will receive three reminder emails, one each day, three days, two days, and one day prior to the certification being due.
    • Certified Period:
      • Expiration Type - This will allow you to choose if you want the certification to expire a certain number of days after the student completes it or on a specific date.
        • Days - If selected, this will show an additional option, Expiration Days, to enter the number of days between initial certification completion and the expiration of this certification.
        • Date - This will show two additional options, Expiration Date and Date Type. For Expiration Date, use the date-picker to select the date by which students should complete this certification. For Date Type, select One-Time expiration on the above date if students need only complete the certification once, or Expire every year on the above date if students need to complete this certification annually.
        • Warning Period - A comma-separated list of numbers can be entered to set the timing of notifications sent to students prior to the due date of the certification. For example, if 3,2,1 is entered, students will receive three reminder emails, one each day, three days, two days, and one day prior to the certification being due.
      • Optional Grace Period:
        • Recertification Days - If an optional grace period is allowed after the recertificatino due date, during which students may complete the certification, input the number of days for this grace period. For example, if 7 is entered in the box, the student will have 7 days after the student's recertification date to complete the certification.
        • Warning Period - A comma-separated list of numbers can be entered to set the timing of notifications sent to students prior to the due date of the certification. For example, if 3,2,1 is entered, students will receive three reminder emails, one each day, three days, two days, and one day prior to the certification being due.

 

NOTE: Once you assign this certification to a user group, you will no longer be able to change it.

Content Tab

In this tab, you can add individual pieces of content to the certification. Note: Once content has been added to a certification, its settings can no longer be edited.

Learning Tracks Tab

In this tab, you can add learning tracks to the certification. Note: Once a learning track has been added to a certification, its settings (and the content assigned to the learning track) can no longer be edited.

Ownership Tab

In this tab, you can select an owner(s) for the certification.

  • Click Save at the bottom of the window.
